In February 2019, construction commenced on an $8 million renovation project of the Clocktower Mill Apartments. The apartments were initially constructed in 1986 when The Simon Konover Company transformed an abandoned mill building into a 185-unit apartment community consisting of studio, one- and two-bedroom units. The property is located at 63 Elm Street in Manchester, CT, just off I-84 and near Buckland Hills Mall. Property amenities include an indoor pool, fitness center, and other common spaces. Clocktower Mill is a historic building and careful consideration has been made to ensure the renovations meet the guidelines set forth by the local historic commission.
The multi-million-dollar renovation project will add safety, convenience and updated, modern accommodations for tenants while bringing more value and energy efficiency to the property. Improvements to the common areas, including the pool and fitness areas, have been completed. The lobby has been transformed with the installation of large, ornate windows, additional lighting and wood flooring with carpeted accents that extend into the common hallways. The large, historic smokestack has been repointed, outdoor trim installed and the replacement of 420 historic energy-efficient windows completed.
For increased tenant safety, new security cameras have been installed at the building entrances as well as in the parking lots. The addition of new mailboxes and Amazon HUB locker will provide residents with a secure package delivery system. Individual apartments will all have new entry doors outfitted with fob-activated keyless entry systems. In addition to tenant safety, the apartments will have new HVAC systems, upgraded, modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances and new cabinets.
The construction is ongoing and is scheduled to be complete in 2022. Konover Residential Corporation is the property management company for Clocktower Mill apartments.
